Gosh, I can’t believe it’s already time to make a roundup of Athens 4th of July Activities! Summer is going by too fast already! Typically we go to the Colbert parade and then watch some fireworks somewhere. I’m not quite sure what we are doing this year. Time will tell!
On to the roundup! Here’s what you can find this Fourth of July around Athens:
Stone Mountain’s Fantastic Fourth Celebration: Join us any day, July 1 – 7, for seven full days of the Fantastic Fourth Celebration, Attraction Hours: 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. Lasershow and Fireworks: 9:30 p.m. Voted the “Best Place to see Fireworks in Atlanta” by Atlanta Journal-Constitution readers, a “Must-See Fireworks Show” by USA Today and one of Reader’s Digest’s picks for “America’s Most Spectacular Fourth of July Fireworks.” Experience the Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision® featuring new music, animation, water effects, an immersive laser canopy, and a fleet of robotic drones synced with music in front of the 825-foot mountain face. Special patriotic fireworks finale will immediately follow the Lasershow all 7 nights of the celebration!
Star Spangled Classic: The Star Spangled Classic is back! This family-friendly Independence Day celebration will take place Saturday, June 30, 2018 in Downtown Athens. Activities begin at 5:00 p.m. and includes live music by The Funk Brotherhood, children’s activities, and food trucks. The highlight of the evening will be a fabulous fireworks display scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m. The fireworks will be launched in the vicinity of the Classic Center parking deck.
Jefferson Freedom Festival: Enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment at the Jefferson Freedom Festival. Held the last Saturday of June, this annual festival takes place on the square in Downtown Jefferson. 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Free admission, concert, and fireworks show. Vendors will have food, drinks, games, souvenirs, and assorted products for sale. Bring a chair, your family and friends, and enjoy a fun evening together! Concert starts at 6:00 pm. Firework show starts at 10:00 pm.
Star Spangled Statham: Fireworks at 9:30. Music, inflatables, hotdogs! Bring your coolers and chairs. Details on the website.
Oconee 4th of July Spectacular: New location this year! Epps Bridge Centre! Hang out with Magic 102.1 at the exciting new location for the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Center’s 4th of July fireworks celebration! We’ll be LIVE at the beautiful Epps Bridge Centre starting at 7pm. The fireworks start at 9:30pm.
Colbert 4th of July Parade: Colbert’s 49th Annual July 4th Celebration begins at 9 a.m. with the best summer parade in the area and follows with even more fun, live music, festivities and great food, including our famous barbecue chicken plates at the Colbert Volunteer Fire Department. Theme this year is “Back the Blue”.
Downtown Braselton: Bring the family to Downtown Braselton for our annual July 4th parade, music & food on the Town Green and spectacular fireworks show! Just before 6pm be sure to line up along Hwy. 53 to catch the July 4th Parade. The parade route will be along Hwy 53 beginning at the Tech Center (YearOne and Northeast Church), travels through the downtown area turning right onto Henry Street just before the old Primary School, travels along Harrison Street, turning left onto Davis by the library then right onto Hwy 124 ending at the entrance to Northeast Church.
