Gosh, I can’t believe it’s already time to make a roundup of Athens 4th of July Activities! It seems like the Fourth of July came super fast this year! Typically we go to the Colbert parade and then watch some fireworks somewhere. I’m not quite sure what we are doing this year. Maybe we will plan a cookout. Hmmm…
On to the roundup! Here’s what you can find this Fourth of July around Athens:

The Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision®, features iconic music, epic fireworks and jaw-dropping fire effects. The special patriotic fireworks finale will immediately follow the Lasershow every night July 1-4!
Lanier Islands: With most of the festivities hosted inside LanierWorld – the resort’s beach, boardwalk and waterpark entertainment district – Fourth of July weekend guests can opt to include more than a dozen waterslides and attractions, food and drink from a collection of on-site eateries and watering holes, and movies on the 5-story HD Spectacular Screen. Fireworks every night July 1-4.
Star Spangled Classic: Activities begin at 5:00 p.m. and includes live music, children’s activities, and food trucks. The festival area is Washington Street (between Lumpkin & Jackson) and College Avenue (between Hancock & Broad). The highlight of the evening will be a fabulous fireworks display scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m. This event is free of charge. The community is invited to celebrate 241 years of American independence with this family friendly event in historic downtown.
Star Spangled Statham: Join us for our 2nd annual Star Spangled Statham Fireworks Extravaganza! Attendance is free! Bring your coolers and lawn chairs and join us for a great time! Live music (band starts at 7pm), inflatables for the kids (wristband required for a fee). We’ll also have food!
Auburn Independence Day Celebration: 5pm-11pm. Come and join us for an evening of food, fun, and music. Inflatables for the kids, craft vendors, live music, food trucks and safe, family fun. Auburn’s fireworks display is the best in Northeast Georgia and begins at dusk.
Oconee 4th of July Spectacular: Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department and Walton EMC & Walton Natural Gas present the Oconee 4th of July Spectacular! Come out for this FREE star spangled celebration!
Colbert 4th of July Parade: Colbert’s 48th Annual July 4th Celebration begins at 9 a.m. with the best summer parade in the area and follows with even more fun, live music, festivities and great food, including our famous barbecue chicken plates at the Colbert Volunteer Fire Department.
Mall of Georgia Star Spangled Fourth: Mall of Georgia’s 15th Annual Star Spangled Fourth event. The event offers fun activities for the entire family including children’s rides and inflatables, live music, food and beverage concessions and the largest fireworks display in the county.
