Review: VeritasBible.com from Veritas Press
About VeritasBible.com:
VeritasBible.com is a new online Bible program that helps kids to learn more about the Bible without really even realizing that they are learning.
Currently, there are three different courses included in VeritasBible.com. Those courses are:
- Genesis to Joshua
- Judges to Kings
- The Gospels
2 more courses are being added soon, although the website doesn’t mention when that will be yet. Those are:
- Chronicles to Malachi and Job
- Acts to Revelation
Each course covers 32 main events in that section of the Bible and features music to help memorize the chronology of events. Memory tools for names, dates, and places are also utilized during the course. Through the VeritasBible.com program, your children will explore the Bible through activities in art, music, and geography. Each course also includes projects, worksheets, and tests.
Our Thoughts:
I have been using VeritasBible with my older 3 kids, ages 12, 9, and soon to be 7. So far, my kids are loving VeritasBible.com. They to play their “Bible game” daily!
I have started each of my three older children on a different course since they often like to watch over a sibling’s shoulder during computer times. My almost 7 year old has started on Genesis to Joshua, my 9 year old on Judges to Kings, and my oldest on The Gospels.
We found that my almost 7 year old enjoys using VeritasBible.com but that it is a little advanced for her, personally. She is a little behind on reading and some of the big words on the quizzes and such were more than she could do right now. She did very well with it if I sat with her and helped with the bigger words. She really enjoys the program though and I can tell that she is still learning, even if she does need a little assistance.
My son has learned more in the past few weeks from the Judges to Kings program than I even knew about that section of the Bible! He has been memorizing the judges of Israel in order and much more! I think I may even need to go through this program!
My oldest thinks that the songs are somewhat catchy, but she did get a little tired of hearing them in each lesson. My son likes watching the map change as the characters venture through the Bible stories and playing the games.
Some of the quizzes were a little hard for them, though. There were a lot of little details that it would ask the kids to recollect, and oftentimes we would have to redo a lesson and work together to come up with the answers. It appears that the program greatly focusses on memorization, which it wonderful when learning about Biblical material.
I think we will continue using VeritasBible.com throughout this year and maybe more in the future since I have seen how much they have grown in their understanding and knowledge of the Bible. I look forward to my kids completing their current programs and moving on to see the new ones yet to be released.

Meal Plan Monday
Whew! Last week was a dozy with having 2 of my children’s cousins over all week. It was a blast, though! The kids had VBS and had a marvelous time! Now we’re on to this week! We really are working on enjoying the summer to the fullest. This week, we plan to swim a bunch, enjoy time with friends, and maybe squeeze in a little Chuck E Cheese time just to have fun.
I’m loving trying new recipes lately and of course having some old favorites as well. Here’s what I plan to make this week:
Monday: Green Chile’ Chicken Casserole
Tuesday: Lazy Lasagna (didn’t get a chance to make this last week)
Wednesday: Dinner at Medieval Times!
Thursday: Beef enchiladas
Friday: Bacon Ranch Chicken Casserole
Saturday: Dinner at my nephew’s birthday party
Sunday: Leftovers or fix your own
Goodbye Huggies Reward Codes
If you haven’t heard yet, pay attention! Heads up if you collect Huggies rewards points from their diapers and wipes! Hughes is giving you until 11:59 pm TOMORROW night to get your codes in before they stop accepting them! If you are putting codes in, be patient. It’s taking me about a minute to get each one added. Just hit submit once and then wait… and wait… and wait.
My thoughts? Personally I’m not a fan of having to submit my receipts to them to get points. I probably will do it, but I believe it’s just a way for them to provide research on what parents are buying along with their Huggies products.
If you’re like me, you already do submit your receipts for points on apps like Ibotta, Checkout51, and others, so honestly, it’s not a huge deal to me. Adding another app and another thing to remember is a pain, though.
What are your thoughts?
Cow Appreciation Day – July 12, 2016 + Changes
This year, Chick-fil-A’s Cow Appreciation Day is on July 12, 2016. That will be a fun day since it’s my 3rd child’s birthday! Hooray! There are a few changes that you will want to take note of before heading out.
The most important thing to take note of is that they are now only offering an entree instead of a full meal for free for adults. Children can still receive a kids meal. Please read the snippet below, pulled from their website:
I have to say that I’m a little sad, but I understand the changes. Chick-fil-a is still so incredibly generous to offer such a fun day! Let’s remember to be gracious and thankful for what is offered. We will still be there with our cowbells on 🙂
How does your family celebrate cow day?
1byone: Cool Mist Humidifier & Aroma Diffuser
Our friends over at 1byone.com recently sent us the 1byone 2.8L Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier and Aroma Diffuser to review. We are loving it!
This humidifer can turn 7 different colors and can diffuse your favorite oils and scents as well. I’m still learning about essential oils, but this seems to do the trick in making the house smell nice and put moisture back into the air.
The size is absolutely perfect. It fits nicely on the counter without taking up a huge amount of space. This product features a 2.8 liter tank and can last up to 11 hours!

Review: LearnBop for Families
About LearnBop:
LearnBop is a self-paced math program geared toward grades three through twelve and provides immediate personal math help to your student through this self paced program.
Through LearnBop, it will help identify and close knowledge gaps that it finds in your children.
My Thoughts:
We’ve been using LearnBop the past few weeks with my rising 4th and 8th graders. My son is working on multiplication and division, while my daughter started on Geometry.
Setup was an absolute breeze. We entered basic information about name and grade and then choose an avatar and we were set. From there, the kids could login on their own and begin.
Each time you login, you start with a warm-up. From there my children are able to watch videos to learn the concepts before moving on to the problems.
Both kids have enjoyed the program and are even asking to do it on their own. I think LearnBop is excellent to use during the summer to prevent any gaps from occurring.
As a busy mom, I appreciate that it automatically checks the problem and helps the student to try again. My son had a problem that he was completely stuck on and instead of giving up, he was able to have it email me and let me know that there was a problem. Then when I had some extra time, I was able to pull up the problem so we could go over it together and help him to understand where the issue was and learn from it.
I also like that it has a log of what my child has worked on and for how long. It seems nearly impossible to get 100%, though, even if you do everything right. It appears that you need to do the Extra Credit problems to get 100%. I let my children decide if they wanted to try to get 100% or not. They have to achieve 90% or higher to move on from a concept.
LearnBop also provides “achievement” notifications so your child can be proud of their accomplishments. My kids enjoyed seeing how many achievements they could earn.
We did find a couple glitches with problems being correct but the program not accepting the correct answers, but I’m sure that LearnBop is working those out.
I am happy with the LearnBop program and we will continue using it for the duration of our year subscription, but I am unsure if we will renew. I think we will enjoy it as we continue over the next several months.
More information:
For more information, you can visit LearnBop’s website. This program is available for $14.95 a month for 1 student or $19.95 a month for 2-4 students. You can receive a discount if you prepay for a year in advance. There is a 30 day money back guarantee and you can cancel anytime.
You can also find out more on their facebook or on twitter.
