Happy Monday everyone! We had such a beautiful weekend! My husband and 2 sons went camping and the girls and I had fun watching movies and enjoying the fresh air. I’ve done some more crocheting and it’s really been a joy to get busy with that again. Above is one of my latest – a newsboy style cap. My older son requested one and now my younger son wanted one like big brother. When he came home from camping, I had the hat waiting for him and he loved it! Have a great week! Here’s our meal plan:

Happy Monday! We’ve had a good extended weekend and looking forward to a great week ahead. Even managed a short trip with a few of the kids to Tennessee for a couple nights. It sure will be hard to return to normalcy after that!

We had the opportunity to review Amazing World War II Stories from Timberdoodle’s 2020 Fifth-Grade Curriculum Kit. My 8th grade son enjoys reading about history, especially WWII so these were good options. The format of these stories is of a graphic novel, also known as a comic book.

Since my son enjoyed them the most, here are a few of his thoughts:

These are great stories and a good way to learn about part of WWII that most people didn’t know about. The comics are about women pilots, a fake platoon, an unbreakable POW, and secret codes. These are short stories but hold a lot of information. I very much enjoyed them. My favorite one of these books is the one about a ghost army. The ghost army would set up fake tanks and other equipment to try to trick the other army into believing there were more men or they were different battalions. The Ghost Army is my favorite being that it is a clever idea on behalf of the Americans and because it very much fooled the Germans. I think these would be great stories for those who are interested in WWII and want to know more about lesser known events.

These books are geared toward grades 3-9 on an interest level and 3-4 on a reading level, but I think almost anyone would enjoy them as a quick read. For more information or to check them out, visit Amazing World War II Stories on Timberdoodle’s website.
