I was given the wonderful opportunity to review the new Ellie Claire Art Journals.  By nature, I’m not a very crafty person, but these journals leave me wanting to create something special!

We were sent 3 of their journals:

  • Illuminate Your Story Journal
  • Faith & Lettering Journal
  • The Illustrated Word-  An Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal

The first thing that I noticed was how high quality these journals are in regards to paper and cover, along with the accessories.  Illuminate Your Story and Faith and Lettering Journal both feature a place to hold a pen or marker and a bookmark.  The covers are so beautiful and embossed with shiny lettering that really stands out.

In Illuminate Your Story Journal, there are step by step instructions on how to create illuminated manuscript, such as pictured above.  I hadn’t heard of the term illuminated manuscript before, but it’s simply manuscript in which the text is supplemented with decoration as initials, borders, and miniature illustrations.  Tons of blank spaces in the journal provide the perfect outlet to practice illuminating your own story.  The back of the journal even includes an envelope to slide in your own illuminated manuscript keepsakes.  An attached elastic band keeps the journal together.

The Faith & Lettering Journal is a beautiful way to start creating a journal.  Whether you intend to do Bible journaling, bullet journaling, note taking, or just writing random thoughts, this journal provides the perfect space and cool tips along the way.  It provides space to practice calligraphy, hand lettering, and for all your other creative outlets.  There are grids, dots, lined pages, and blank pages throughout.

The Illustrated Word-  An Illuminated Bible Coloring Journal provides tons of space for Bible journaling, note taking during church, and some coloring pages throughout so you can reflect back on what you have learned.  There are some gorgeous designs throughout the book that I cannot wait to color on after I do my Bible journaling.  I have found that when I write what I’m reading, it helps me retain it better.  This will be a beautiful place to work that out.

My Thoughts:

These three books are beautiful and would make wonderful gifts and keepsakes.  I’m already planning to buy a few for friends this holiday season.  The quality and craftsmanship will blow you away.  If you’re thinking about journaling, I highly encourage you to check out Ellie Claire Art Journals.
