Monster Jam and Monster Energy Supercross have partnered with Atlanta area libraries on a reading program that is easy and fun for kids to participate and gives them the opportunity to earn a free ticket to the show of their choice. This engaging reading program will encourage children to not only read, but also to discover, dream and learn.

Children are encouraged to visit the nearest participating Atlanta Area Public Library to pick up a Reward Club Card and return when they finish a book. The librarian will stamp the card with a themed stamp for every book read. Once the five boxes are completely filled with the special stamps, the child and their parent/guardian can bring the Reward Club Card to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium box office for up to three free seats to a Monster Jam – at Mercedes-Benz Stadium February 22-23 – or Supercross – at the stadium February 29 – with the purchase of one adult ticket.

As part of the reading program, Monster Jam and Supercross will visit two libraries to read to children and give them a special interaction with a Monster Jam and Supercross athlete. Both events are free and open to the public.

Ready to get back in the swing of things?  Ready or not, the time is now!  We had a great past week, with some lovely family time, game nights with friends, roller skating, adventures, and even some trampoline park fun.  We’ve very much enjoyed and needed this break.  With this week starting back up, it’s time to return to our normal, which consists of homeschool, Trail Life, trapeze, church activities, friends, Mother’s Morning Out, and work.  I loved the time off, but I also love the routine.  Let’s roll, 2020!

Family time is important to us, and with the kids getting older, it’s getting harder to find things that everyone from the 16 year old to the 4 year old will enjoy.  This past weekend, we were provided with tickets to take our family to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament at the Atlanta castle.  It was our first time taking our youngest and I think he was the perfect age to truly enjoy the experience.

We arrived early at the castle and let the kids explore.  We were able to meet one of the new hawks to the Atlanta castle and her trainer.  This was helpful to us because our 4 year old is terrified of birds being close to him.  He was able to see the hawk in a safe way and we were able to explain exactly what the hawk would do during the show.  This helped him to not be afraid when it came time for the hawk to fly over the audience.

We also let the kids enjoy slushies and my husband and I shared a drink called the Maiden’s Kiss.  Highly recommend trying this one!  Delicious!  The slushies helped tie the kids over until our dinnertime and helped pass the time while we waited until showtime.

Once it was time to go in, my 4 year old was amazed by the decor and arena.  We found our spots in the Red Knight section and began our adventure.

As always, the show did not disappoint!  I love the new show since it has taken away the scary aspects and replaced them with showcasing more of what the amazing horses can do.

Since we did visit Medieval Times with a variety of ages, I’ve put together a few tips for you so you can get the most out of your experience  with children.

Tips for Visiting Medieval Times with Kids:

*Arrive early to get the most of your experience.  Older kids may enjoy visiting the dungeon, for an extra minimal charge.  You also may be able to visit with some of the performers and possibly even a hawk!

*Consider visiting at the last show of the day.  Our show wasn’t the last one of the day, but when we have been before, the knights would often come out afterward to visit!

* You know what your child likes to eat and not eat.  Consider bringing them a snack if they are a picky eater or asking your server for an extra of something in exchange for something your child doesn’t like.  Our server brought my 4 year old an extra garlic bread since he decided to be in an extra picky mood and that was the only thing he would eat.

*Most souvenirs are pricey, but they do bring around little flags to help cheer on your knight for $2.  This is probably the most affordable option.

*Remember to go to the bathroom before the show starts so you don’t miss a minute of the fun!
