When this review came up, I instantly thought of my 15 year old daughter.  I showed her the information and she said she’d be happy to check out this devotion.  We received a copy of Beloved: 365 Devotions for Young Women to review.

Here’s what my daughter had to say:

In our world today, it can be extremely hard for a young women to remember God loves her.  In Beloved: 365 Devotions for Young Women, it shows us how to look at different female biblical characters.  Each woman in the Bible is given as an important leader or inspiration.  Each day includes a Bible verse, a short, but meaningful devotion, and space to journal out thoughts.  This devotional is for young women searching for the truth and wondering if they are less then God created them to be.

This book goes all the way from Eve to Eunice and Lois, and all the way in between.  Eve shows us that we do need mistakes, but also we complete humankind.  Eunice and Lois teach that we can leave a legacy of faith to others depending on what you do.  We learn a lesson from Ruth about commitment.  There are many lessons to be learned like, highlighting God’s power through us, God is always with us, showing respect to others, and making positive impacts.

This book is now one of my favorites.  I have tried a few other devotionals but they were so long and I couldn’t really relate to them.  This one takes only about five minutes to read and think about and maybe a minute or two to journal.  I like how this devotional has actual messages that I can relate to.  All I need for the day is in an easy-to-understand short devotion for every day of the year.  I would recommend that if you would like to journal more than four short lines, that you journal in a notebook.  I know in our world now, we can get swept up in worldly distractions from the Christian life.  This book makes it easier to go take a few minutes and grow in my spiritual relationship with God.  If you add prayer, you may have a five-ten minute devotion for those busy people like me.  A few minutes in the morning and you are ready for the day.  People who actually take their time and study this deeper than it already goes might spend 15-20 minutes.  I would recommend that all busy young women who want to understand how we are beloved by God in this culture nowadays, use this devotional.

I would love to gift this to my sweet niece, Lexi. She’s 12 and is on a good path to making good choices in her life, however I’d love to give this devotional to her to help her continue on that path as she begins facing obstacles along her way through these teen years.
