My oldest is in the midst of her 10th grade year in high school. The option for college is coming quicker than any of us have realized. She has taken the PSAT and we are moving forward on the rest of the things to prepare for college, if she desires to go.
One thing that we are checking into is CLEP tests. A CLEP test is an exam that tests a person for college level knowledge of a particular subject. If a person passes the exam, they will be given college credit as if they had actually taken the courses. That sounds like a great way to movie forward quickly through college!
CLEP Prep Resource:
Study.com is a wonderful CLEP prep resource. This website features thousands of practice questions, over 30 CLEP study guides, and over 3,000 test prep videos.
I took a look through the CLEP Biology: Study Guide and Test Prep. I found it pretty thorough. The videos were helpful, the information was relevant, and overall, I was impressed. Study.com has a very easy to use website. You can simply select your course, and then start on the program from there. Below you can see a sample of what the course entails.
Before even starting the CLEP course, you have the option to take a placement test to see if you can test of of material that you already know. I really like having that feature so users can zone in on what needs to be studied.
DSST Prep Resource:
DSST are credit-by-examination tests originated by the United States Department of Defense’s Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) program. It consists of 30+ examinations in college subject areas that are comparable to the final or end-of-course examinations in undergraduate college courses. Study.com offers a DSST Prep program with thousands of practice questions, over 4,000 videos, and over 30 study guides.
How Do I Use the Program?
Study.com can be used on any device – Android, iOS, PC, and Mac. Apps are available to use the program on the go. You can work at your own pace and study as your schedule allows.
