Gosh, I haven’t seen this movie in forever! It used to scare me when they were in the whale but overall a great movie with good morals!

Sometimes life just gets busy! With kids running around everywhere, sometimes as parents we don’t have time to fix a meal every meal. Instead, you can make one big meal and then portion it out throughout the week.
Amazon is currently offering a 12 pack of meal prep portion control containers for only $6.89!
You can also find tons of other portion containers on Amazon starting at $8.99!

As many of my local Athens, Georgia friends know, the new World of Wonder Playground, also know as the WOW Park, has reopened recently with an awesome new playscape. We ventured out there today to celebrate our first day of the new semester in homeschooling.
Anyone that ever went to the old WOW park knew that you weren’t able to go in the summer during the day. It was far too hot. The new playground has plenty of shade with giant canopies over many playscapes and more importantly, over some of the benches for the parents.
Another big complaint was the forever hike to the bathrooms from the old playground. The new playground is located right next to the bathrooms now, making it much easier to take a potty training toddler to go before an accident happens. They also have water fountains inside the park fence but they weren’t working while we were there.
I can’t quite tell you about the benches, though, because I had a blast playing on the playground with my children! They have a ginormous tube slide, a fun roller slide, and really all sorts of slides everywhere!
The best part for me was the awesome Generation Swings that are located at the front of the park. I could swing with my youngest! He thought this was the best thing ever!
My 16 month old enjoyed the playscape designed for the 2-5 year old crowd. On this one, there aren’t any stairs, so he was able to just walk right up the incline to get to his favorite slides.
My little monkeys enjoyed the many different types of monkey bars that were available. Several look like things out of the American Ninja Warriors show. My 10 year old son LOVED this part since he has great upper body strength and often needs a challenge.
One of the highlights for the kids was the intriguing merry-go-round type equipment. It doesn’t spin as fast as the ones did when we were kids, but still super fun. There is netting all around to keep kids from falling off as easy, too. My kids loved climbing on it and then taking turns spinning everyone around. Even my teenager had a blast!
All the equipment easily works for when a bunch of kids show up at once to play. Everywhere we turned, there was something new and different to play with or on!
Another great feature is that there is walking path that parents can walk on that goes around the playground but is inside the fence! You can get some exercise while your children play. From what I am reading, it’s about 1/5 of a mile path, but I haven’t measured it for myself yet. I definitely will be using this feature. I saw one man walking/jogging the path and a few little kids riding their bikes or scooters on it as well.
We had a blast and will definitely be back! This is a great place to visit!

Have you been to the new location yet? How much fun did you have?

What a year 2016 has been. Lots of ups and downs for sure. The baby isn’t so much of a baby anymore at 16 months today. He keeps me hopping with all his antics, including his latest – CLIMBING everything. The other kids are busy enjoying their new goodies from Christmas and getting ready to start homeschool back again today. I don’t think the teacher is quite ready, though 😉
New Year’s was good. We had a fairly quiet evening in and let the kids stay up until midnight. I fell asleep around 11 and woke shortly before the New Year.
The past few years, I’ve been giving myself a word to focus on during that year to improve myself. Last year, my word for the year was Minimize. I think I did an ok job of that. I made the point to say no to things that would be overwhelming or take too much time away from the family. I also worked on going through some things and trying to declutter. I didn’t do nearly as good of a job as I would have liked, but I will be continuing it this year.
For 2017, my word is going to be GRACE. Basically figuring out my priorities and putting those front and center and giving myself grace with everything else. For now, we take one day at a time.
I’m also going to try and have a mostly spend-free January. We are going to eat out of the pantry and freezer and just go to the store for some fresh veggies and fruits and some dairy. It’s a great way to save money and try to use up what we have on hand without it going to waste.
To start off the New Year, here’s my meal plan!
Monday: Grilled Cheese, Tomato Soup
Tuesday: Cowboy Grub
Wednesday: Grilled chicken, Quinoa, limas
Thursday: Easy Chicken Enchiladas
Friday: Cheesy Bacon Chicken, okra
Saturday: Chicken Alfredo over Broccoli
Sunday: Taco and Nacho bar
What are you making this week?

Every year, I like to think back about what we got our kids for Christmas and see what was a “hit” and what was a “miss”.
This year, I think we didn’t have any true misses.
The Our Generation Doll brand scooter and jeep were a HUGE hit with my little girls for their American Girl dolls. The only problem is that their 1 year old brother thinks that they are awesome, too, and keeps trying to climb inside! He thinks the jeep is for him and will fight for it if given the chance.
The baby really likes his toy Dyson vacuum. He is often seen pushing it around the house to clean. I love that it can actually pick some stuff up!!
My 10 year old son loves his Spygear motion detector but I find it extremely annoying.
My teenager LOVES her aloe socks and the outfit I picked out for her from Kohls.
All the kids were thrilled with their Tsum Tsums that I put in their stockings.
The biggest hit of all has been the Labyrinth game. I think we have played it every day since Christmas and are still loving it! It’s a strategy game that can be played by up to 4 players. My 5 and 7 year old girls have been able to understand the concept and play as well! So glad that we purchased this!
What were hits and misses at your house this year?
