Halloween will be here before you know it! Target is kicking off the deals with their costumes starting at $15! You and I both know that the closer that we get to Halloween, the harder it is to find the good stuff in the right sizes. Plus adding in the pandemic and supply shortages, I’m guessing that shopping early will be essential.
Head on over to Target.com to see all the fun costumes. Which one will you choose this year?

The coupons for product redemption, information, and gift card have been provided by Little Bites® so that I could try the product and share my thoughts and information about Little Bites®. The opinions expressed in this post are my own and do not reflect the opinions of Little Bites®.
With “Back to School” in full swing around here and sending the kids off to their classes, we often need a quick grab and go style breakfast. Many times we are in a rush to get out the door and I want to make sure the kids have something to eat before they are gone for the day. I took the girls to the store today so they could pick their favorite Little Bites® products to make mornings easier.
With the large variety of items, it was hard to choose, but we finally did. One of my daughters chose the Little Bites® Fudge Brownies and the other chose Little Bites® Mini Tarts Cinnamon. Both are excellent and tasty choices in my book! There are several little tarts or muffins in each bag, so the girls are able to swap and try both if they want.
Little Bites® are small enough for little hands but still “cool” enough to please the pre-teen crowd. Even my 14 year old (not pictured – he’s too cool for that) will sneak into the pantry to grab a pack.
Little Bites® snacks is celebrating the return to school with the Little Bites® Back-to-School Bash! From now until August 30, parents are invited to enter the Little Bites® Back-to-School Bash for a chance to win everything they need to host the ultimate back-to-school party. We received the IQ Circuit from Timberdoodle to review for you guys. It’s a fun “Connect the Dots” style, one-player strategy game. We’ve taken it on road trips and camping with us and everyone in the family has enjoyed it. It’s a very portable game! Although it’s geared toward ages eight to adult, my almost six year old son also had a ton of fun with it.
To start the game, simply decide which of the 120 challenges you’d like to do. These range from “easy” to “expert” in difficulty. Then you set up the dots as shown in the challenge. You use the remainder of the pieces to try and finish the puzzle where the dots connect. The pieces are all different shapes and the paths have curves, so it does take a lot of concentration, problem solving, and thinking skills.
We definitely recommend adding this game to your logic/thinking skills manipulatives and see this as something we will play many times over the years. You can find this game for sale on Timberdoodle. It’s is also part of the 9th Grade Curriculum Kit that Timberdoodle has put together.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that we have been homeschoolers since the very beginning of our children’s school years. A few years back, I started writing down our homeschool plans since I would have friends and readers ask me what we used each year. If you care to look back, you can see what we used in the 2015-2016 year here or in the 2016-2017 school year here. 2017-2018 can be found here. 2018-2019 can be found here, 2019-2020 can be found here, and 2020-2021.
This year, we have kids in 9th, 6th, 5th, and Kindergarten and we are switching it up a bit. Since we graduated our oldest this past year and our youngest is officially school age, we’ve decided to make some changes. My youngest 2 will be going to a local hybrid homeschool/private school a couple times a week. They will be doing all their subjects there and then have homework to work on the other days. My husband or I will be assisting them with their homework on their off days.
The older two are going to be going to a one day a week program that covers English, History, Logic, and a few other subjects. Below, I’ll share a little of what we will be doing at home.
We are continuing with XtraMath.org for my 5th and 6th graders. It’s a completely free way to make sure your kids understand all of their math facts. As a mom, I can login and see how they are doing as well and what needs improvement.
For my oldest student, he will start his high school with Math-U-See for Algebra 1. 6th grader will start another year of Horizons Math. The other 2 will do math with their school and are using Saxon.
As a family, we are going to be working through Who is God? And How Can I Really Know Him? from Apologia.
Everyone will be continuing with American Heritage Girls and Trail Life, and of course youth group activities.
Hope you all have a great school year! I’m looking forward to having a lighter load this year and outsourcing more. Plus, if you missed this on a previous post, I’ll be returning to work after 18 years at home! So excited about that!
