J K Rowling Fans! Her new book, The Ickabog is now available for purchase!
Here’s the synopsis:
Once upon a time there was a tiny kingdom called Cornucopia, as rich in happiness as it was in gold, and famous for its food. From the delicate cream cheeses of Kurdsburg to the Hopes-of-Heaven pastries of Chouxville, each was so delicious that people wept with joy as they ate them. But even in this happy kingdom, a monster lurks. Legend tells of a fearsome creature living far to the north in the Marshlands… the Ickabog. Some say it breathes fire, spits poison, and roars through the mist as it carries off wayward sheep and children alike. Some say it’s just a myth… And when that myth takes on a life of its own, casting a shadow over the kingdom, two children – best friends Bert and Daisy – embark on a great adventure to untangle the truth and find out where the real monster lies, bringing hope and happiness to Cornucopia once more.
We can’t wait to read this one!

Beautiful Monday! We snuck up to the mountains with our camper for a night and we couldn’t have picked a more beautiful time to go. The leaves are turning and the wind is blowing. Perfection! This week brings rain for our area, so we are spending lots of time outside before it gets here. Here’s the plan for the week:
Monday: Chicken Pot Pie
Tuesday: Good Grub
Wednesday: Chicken Salad Sandwiches
Thursday: Black beans and rice
Friday: Veggie Night
Saturday: Chicken Fajitias
Sunday: Leftovers

A few years back, we were introduced to Drive Thru History® Adventures and David Stotts through their DVDs. They are now moving online with some great resources!
Our family has been super excited to start using the new Bible Unearthed from Drive Thru History® Adventures.
Bible Unearthed is an online program that includes videos, exclusive course guides, and a Drive Thru History community! You could easily use this program as a curriculum for homeschool or to just enhance Biblical knowledge and history. Our family is using it just for knowledge purposes.
This Drive Thru History® Adventures program includes the following videos and worksheets to go alongside to help enhance learning:
Typical Drive Thru History® Adventures videos feature David Stotts traveling all over the world finding Biblical evidence. These videos are more of a discussion of archaeological aspects between peers and less of cruising the world looking at sites, but that doesn’t make it any less interesting.
As my family has been watching the videos, we take the time afterward to pull up the worksheets and discuss the answers. If we are stumped, answer keys are provided.
These videos are so interesting that the kids often beg to watch more than one at a time!
We have been very intrigued by the facts presented in the videos. These videos help both kids and adults see the Biblical references and the actual location or historical objects involved to give substance to passages in the Bible. We don’t have the opportunity to travel overseas, but with Drive Thru History® Adventures, we don’t have to! All the fun and information is brought safely to our living room.

It’s no lie that 2020 has been very…. unique. I can’t say that I’ve ever experienced a year quite like this one. It’s been sweet in some ways and then absolutely gut-wrenching in others.
We have the family tradition of picking a personalized family ornament each year to hang on the tree. The kids and adults both love this tradition and I think it will be one for us to treasure forever.
With 2020 being so different from other years, the ornaments this year have followed suit! I was just browsing on Etsy and thought I’d share a few of our favorite 2020 Christmas ornaments with you guys.
My top favorite is this 2020 Christmas Ornament with Masks and Toilet Paper. Right now the seller has them available for families from sizes 2-7, but has wait lists if you need another number of family members. I think this will end up being our ornament for the year.
Next is a favorite of Grinch-lovers, is this Stink Stank Stunk 2020 Ornament. Definitely a cute one with the mask and grinch hand.
Creativity has been loving this Mini Mask Ornament with 2020 embroidered on it.
Keep it simple with this 2020 Covid Ornament. It will glisten beautifully on your tree.
Another fun personalized one is this Quarantine Family Christmas Ornament. It can have 2-6 family members and each one can be personalized.
Here is another variety of the Personalized 2020 Christmas Mask Ornaments. This one features 3-6 family members.
Masked 2020 Gingerbread Men Ornaments are super cute as well. I love the one with the toilet paper!
Finally, I’m featuring is another 2020 Quarantine Family with masks. This one features 2-6 family members.
Of course, these are just a small fraction of the many, many ornaments available on Etsy. I’m sure if you browse around on Etsy, you’ll find the perfect one for your family.
If you’re looking for fun Christmas Stockings, be sure to check out the Christmas Stocking Gift Guide on Etsy. There are some really beautiful options.
