I’m loving all the great family friendly movies that are coming out lately! My younger 4 children (ages 14, 11, 10, and 5) and I just watched a new movie called Dolphin Island. It was a sweet, “feel-good” type movie that we all enjoyed. There was joy, sadness, suspense, everything needed to make a well-rounded movie to entertain both children and adults. We really liked Dolphin Island and I could definitely see us watching it again.

About the Movie:

14-year-old Annabel lives with her fisherman grandfather on an island paradise. She is surrounded by an extended family of loving but quirky neighbors and her best friend – a dolphin named Mitzy. Everything changes when her maternal grandparents arrive with a shifty lawyer to bring her back to New York. It’s up to Annabel and her friends to figure out how to save the day and prove that love conquers all!

Dolphin Island released on Digital HD on Tuesday, March 2nd on most video-on-demand platforms.

Other Thoughts:

In family friendly reviews, I do like to mention if there is something that hits my ears as something I’d rather not have my younger ones hearing. The only thing mentioned in this one that stood out to me is briefly when 2 characters were accused of sleeping together. I also want to mention a little trigger warning since this did mention the deaths of parents and also a foster care/ potential child removal investigation situation that could be scary for younger or more sensitive viewers.

My kids all really liked it and were glad to have a happy ending. My 5 year old son laughed and cheered whenever the dolphin was doing tricks. It was fun to see! I’d love to say more about the movie, but I don’t want to give away the details. You can watch the trailer for Dolphin Island below.

This looks like a great “escape from the pandemic” kind of movie. I miss the tropical feel of a beach vacation, so I think this movie could take us away for a little bit in a comical way.
