About the Book:

Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family – In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything “right” and raise up “good” children, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.
In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents. Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God—grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents. Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children’s hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.

My Thoughts:

I have been reading through Paul David Tripp’s new book, Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family over the past few weeks and I’m blown away and feeling rather broken by my parenting style.

This book really helps you find the flaws in parenting and has shown me that I definitely need to parent with more grace and less law.

I really appreciate how Paul David Tripp encourages parents to get to the base of the issues by changing themselves, not expecting our children to change. Our children are sinners and what they do doesn’t have to be a reflection on us as parents, but more of the sin and brokenness in the world.

As parents, we need to be pointing our children to Christ in every opportunity that presents itself. Boy do I have a lot of work to do!

I definitely recommend reading this book to all parents and I will be keeping it on my shelf for future reference. Definitely is making me think!

No, I have never read any of his books. However, I am always looking for Christian parenting resources and this book sounds very interesting.

I have not read any of his books, but I am familiar with him through Grief Share from when my mother passed away. He gives great insight and knowledge into how to think about death and beyond…where our loved ones will be. He is a very dynamic speaker and with having two little ones (without my mother around for advice), we do our best to raise our kids in the way God would want us to. Having the Bible and this book would really help!
