What’s a Tooth Worth?

I was just reading this article about Tooth Fairy Inflation.  I was quite shocked at how much people are paying per tooth now.  Average of $4??? As much as $20?  Wow!

When I was growing up, I remember receiving $.25.  And one time when the tooth fairy didn’t have a quarter left for me, I got $1.  I do remember friends getting higher amounts and I always thought it was strange.  But then again Santa always brought different things as well.

With my children, the tooth fairy skips our house, but my hubby and I pay $1 per tooth and the kids are happy with that.

What is the standard rate at your house?  Is $4 the norm?

For the first tooth she got $8 (b/c that’s what I had in my wallet at the time). Second tooth I think she got $5.

Um…embarrassed to say….1st tooth $5 & a fairy oriented gift (1st child got a Tinker Bell doll, 2nd child got a Littlest Pet Shop Fairy) then $3 or $4 after that! Serious inflation around here! LOL It was $.25 when I was growing up too! 😉

For the first tooth we did $10 subsequent teeth $5. I think when I was little I got $1.25? My son could care less about it though. His first tooth he accidentally ate and the second one he was “sick of it wiggling” so he yanked it out and threw it on the floor at school. When I asked him what he was going to give the tooth fairy to get his money his reply was “it’s ok. She can give my money to some other kid” ?

When the kids were losing teeth the tooth fairy would give between .50 cents to $2, but we…I mean she usually left it in the form of a “gold” dollar coin or a two dollar bill

$1 has always been the going rate around here for all teeth! It sure does make it hard on others when some kids are getting $10 & $20. 😉
