I’ve already got some ideas up my sleeves and am starting to prep for National Police Appreciation Week 2021.  This year, it is May 9-May 15, 2021.

I feel it is so important to make sure our men and women in law enforcement feel appreciated.  Morale seems to be quite low lately.  I know our family is feeling the pressure.

Please consider taking a few moments and making something or buying some treats and taking to your local department.  If you want to make something, here are some ideas from past years:

This is one of our most popular creations – The Survival Kit for Law Enforcement Officers.  Per popular demand, we have the free printables available for various departments:

  • Survival Kit for Sheriff’s Department
  • Survival Kit for Police
  • Survival Kit for Law Enforcement Officers
  • Survival Kit for Soldiers

Printables to go on chips and KitKat bars are below.  Feel free to print and use!

  • Police Appreciation Week – 2015 All That and a Bag of Chips

It’s that time again! Police Appreciation Week 2018!  This year it has slipped up on me, but we managed to run to the store earlier and make up some goody bags.  We kept it simple, throwing in some chocolate, a gatorade, a snack, and granola bar, but I’m sure they will be thrilled.  The kids and I made a simple assembly line and went to work!  Even the toddler helped by gathering trash and such.  We knocked it out in record time.

We sent in enough to cover 2 shifts at our local jail and a few for the courthouse.  We ended up making about 60 bags this year.

If you’re looking for ideas on how to celebrate this week, please visit our Law Enforcement Support tab.  There you will find lots of ideas and some printables.

How will you share appreciation this week?

My friend Leah over at Love and Blues has been working on this project for months.  I had the opportunity to get a copy beforehand to check out and I’m quite impressed!

The Safe Marriage Project Workbook is a great tool for law enforcement husbands and wives to use to better communicate with each other.  Did you know that the current divorce rate for law enforcement is a whopping 80 percent!  That’s insane!

The workbook includes 12 weeks of activities and worksheets to better know your spouse and work on reconnecting.  My husband and I are in the midst of the workbook right now, but we really enjoy the thought-provoking questions and exercises.

Interested in finding out more?  You can purchase the Safe Marriage Project Workbook through the website Love and Blues for TODAY ONLY for ONLY $10 with code DDAY10 !

Y’all I am so excited!  I was scrolling news earlier and came across this, which has gone viral on many major news stations:

Why am I excited?  For one, because lots of officers are feeling support.  For two, because it’s my printable that I made back in 2014!  How cool is that!  Interested in making your own bags?  Head on over to check out my post with the free Survival Kit for Police Officers printables.

More Than a Cop

More than a Cop

The past few days have been very difficult for many Americans.

People are hurting.  People are angry.

I am hurting because fellow law enforcement families are hurting.

I am angry because this shouldn’t have happened.

I have been crying for God to bring peace.

I have been praying for the families and for those that still stand as the thin blue line.

As I look at my husband, I see a man who loves his family.  He would do anything for us.

He would also do anything for you.

He signed up to stand between the right and wrong and give his life if necessary.

As a wife, that scares me.

Will God require that of our family?

I see social media posts that speak negatively of cops.

They say police are murderers.

They say they are out to kill people based on race.

It hurts.

I know I don’t get what it is like to be of a different skin color.

I know I will never understand what it is like to fear the police.

I do not know that fear.

I do know a fear.

The fear that my husband will leave our home for shift and the worst could happen.

Because of his job, he could be taken from us.

Because of his job, I could be raising our children alone.

That fear is in the back of my mind 24/7.

To me, he’s so much more than just a cop.

He’s the father of our 5 beautiful children.

He’s goofy.

He’s dorky.

He’s sometimes grumpy.

But he’s mine.

Today I sat at a department picnic and I looked around at the other officers.

They were there with their families.

They were from each and every background you can imagine.

Light skin, dark skin.

My kids play with their kids.

They laugh and giggle and chase.

I’m friends with the wives.

All of them are willing to anything for you.

Even give their life.

I cannot imagine losing any of them.

Please pray for our law enforcement officers.

Pray for those that have lost loves ones.

Above all, remember this:

“We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” ~ Ephesians 6:12

Nacho Average Officer Police Week

National Police Week starts today, Sunday May 15th and goes through Saturday May 21st.  The kids and I finally have some of our goodies ready!  This year we went with an inexpensive but fun treat that I think our officers will enjoy.  We bought 3 cases of Doritos in the Nacho flavor so that we could brighten our local officers’ day.

National Police Week

Free Printable:

We have a fun printable that you can use to bless your local officers as well!  It prints with 6 to a page and is ready for you to cut, write your name, and then tape to Doritos!

Perfect and easy for a classroom, scout group, or anyone wanting to bless!  My kids were eager to help me make ours and we whipped up 150 in just moments.

I just saw an ad on facebook promoting these fun police wife handcuff bracelets, but holy cow at the price on the other website!  I turned to good old Amazon to see if they had the bracelets.  They do and at a fraction of the price!  I’m ordering one now!  Can’t wait to get it!

Verses to Encourage the Law Enforcement Wife

After over 11 years of being a law enforcement wife, I find it encouraging to turn to God’s word during hard times instead of focusing on the “What If”.

In the past 7 days, 7 officers have been murdered in the United States.  I have to admit that this saddens and scares me.  During these times, I like to focus on Bible verses to encourage me as a deputy’s wife.

I encourage you to memorize some of these verses and pray for and with your husband using them.  Teach them to your children as well.  Know that we aren’t fighting this fight alone.  I’m praying for you and your family daily.

Silicone Rings for Law Enforcement Officers

My husband just sent me an article on PoliceOne that talked about how silicone rings were better for law enforcement officers. There have been times where his ring has gotten caught on something and he could have lost a finger or broke it! I’m grabbing him these now – only $8.95 for 2!
