My middle child has a birthday coming up and she’s been asking for a scooter that is bigger than her current razor scooter. The kids play outside almost daily and her scooter is getting pretty warn out. While I was browsing online, I found a great deal on Walmart that is far cheaper than the Amazon price!
Walmart.com has the Razor Carbox Lux Scooter on sale for $59.98 and has free 2 day delivery!

The Jump In, 2nd Edition Student Book retails for $40 and the Teacher’s Guide is $10. I definitely recommend getting both to get a good grasp on this program.
On one of the first pages inside the Teacher’s Guide, there are schedules for the Jump In, 2nd Edition program that can be tailored to your student and your time frame. There are schedules for one year, two year, and three year plans. Each daily lesson will take anywhere from five to twenty minutes to complete. Students will learn how to write different types of paragraphs, topic sentences, and main ideas. They will also be guided in writing nine types of essays and a research project. This program is not designed as a stand alone program and you will need a separate grammar course to round out your English lessons.
Inside the Teacher’s Guide, there is “The Teacher’s Backpack” section that includes reproducible pages for constructing paragraphs. There are also sample essays and examples on how to give grades. I really appreciated this part since it helped show which sample essay paper would have received an A and compare it to an essay that would have received a C.
The 10-Minute Writing Plunges were my favorite part of the Teacher’s Guide. There are enough Writing Plunges to last all year. The guide recommends giving new prompts to students every day Monday-Thursday and then Friday choosing a paper out of those to proofread and turn in for a grade.
An answer key to the Daily Lessons and Assignments is also included. In the very back, there are Grading Grids for each type of essay and writing format.
The Jump In, 2nd Edition is filled with 286 pages of writing lessons, assignments, and lots of opportunities to improve writing. Some assignments may be a persuasive essay, a book response, a haiku poem, a how-to paper, and even a newspaper article. The student workbook is designed to be used by one student and consumed. In the past few weeks, my son has learned about an opinion essay and has started learning about persuasive essays.
My son decided to write his opinion declaring that “Poppyseed Chicken is a Great Meal”. I thought his topic was very creative and I loved reading his supporting sentences. Later in the program, he wrote his essay that was almost all put together from the prompts in the book.
I like that it gives sample essays and has the students pull out supporting statements and topic sentences so that they can see first hand the different parts of the paragraphs or essays. After they pull apart essays, they are guided through creating their own essays.
I really enjoyed this review and look forward to continuing the Jump In, 2nd Edition this fall with my son. He liked it as well since the work is broken down into bite size chunks to work on throughout the weeks. This one will definitely be going on our homeschool plans list for fall!

We enjoyed the Mountain Top Rodeo in Dahlonega this past weekend. It’s a yearly tradition for us. I started going to this rodeo when I was young and I love that I can now share the fun with my kids. We had an exhausting weekend but our hearts are full after a lot of family time.
This has been a season of change for us. One thing that has changed is that we are going to a new church. It’s VBS week, so this week will be busy but fun! I volunteered to help, so I’m going to have some easy meals so we can make it through. Today was day 1 and it went well. I’m excited to start meeting some new people and my kids have been making some great new friends.
Monday: Fettucine Alfredo with chicken and broccoli
Tuesday: Trim Mac Salad
Wednesday: Soup and Sandwiches
Thursday: Lasagna
Friday: Dinner at church
Saturday: Dinner out
Sunday: Leftovers!

We were so busy earlier this year that I never made it to the theatre to see DUMBO! I’m excited that I finally received word that we can bring DUMBO home on Digital, 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™ and Movies Anywhere Tuesday, June 25th. Not much longer to wait!
Synopsis:
Stunning extras will transport viewers to the set of “Dumbo,” where cast members Danny DeVito (circus owner Max Medici), Michael Keaton (opportunistic businessman V.A. Vandevere), Colin Farrell (war-veteran-turned-elephant-keeper Holt Farrier), Eva Green (stunning aerialist Colette Marchant), Nico Parker (Farrier’s daughter, Milly) and Finley Hobbins (Farrier’s son, Joe) share their personal stories of courage and character. Features explore how Disney’s timeless animated story was brought to life with an incredibly expressive, lovable, fully computer-generated baby elephant; the longtime collaboration of Burton, production designer Rick Heinrichs and costume designer Colleen Atwood, which resulted in jaw-dropping sets and costumes; and the creation of the visually colossal Dreamland parade sequence. Also included are nine deleted scenes, hidden and not-so-hidden Easter eggs, bloopers and a special performance of “Baby Mine” by Arcade Fire.
In “Dumbo,” struggling circus owner Max Medici enlists former star Holt Farrier and his children to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive but sinister entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere, who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, spectacular, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland.
2 lucky winners will each win a digital download code so they can enjoy DUMBO in their own home! Simply fill out the Rafflecopter below for your chance to win!

The 200 Questions About American History set includes the following:
Inside 200 Questions About American History Student Book, there is a recommended schedule. I found this to be extremely helpful in setting up my 7th grader’s studies and for the most part, we have followed their schedule. He is currently working on reviewing for his first test and we will probably test tomorrow.
The work is broken down into 34 weeks, which makes it much easier to digest. Each week may have a few chapters for reading, followed by drill questions in their book and corresponding note cards. Some weeks are designed for studying or testing. Each chapter is only 1-2 pages, making it a breeze to read a little each day.
The included note cards are very helpful in keeping facts fresh in their minds. There are drill questions, timeline pieces, quotes, and presidents. I think once he has memorized all of them, he will have a great grasp on American history. I am trying to memorize them along side of him and it’s amazing how much we can remember when it’s presented in a simple fact format.
If you follow the suggested schedule, and in addition to the products provided in these sets, you’ll need to grab Story of the World Volume 4. That isn’t needed until week 25.
The Story of the Thirteen Colonies & the Great Republic Set includes the following:
The Story of the Thirteen Colonies & the Great Republic did not have a schedule included, nor is there a schedule that shows how to use both sets simultaneously that I could find. That would be a wonderful thing to be added to these sets. This book has 32 lessons inside, so we could spread it out to one lesson a week or so throughout the school year. We found it didn’t exactly line up so we are just working on it as we read through the chapters and come across the material.
Each lesson includes vocabulary, comprehension questions, and enrichment. Enrichment was my son’s favorite part. Some activities would be to find locations on a map, add timeline pieces, and composition. Below, you can see him responding to the enrichment activity in lesson three, where he had to write a journal entry from the perspective of Balboa after he climbed the mountain and saw the Great South Sea for the first time. I love that it brings out thinking and creativity along with working through history.
The teacher’s manuals are very thorough with the answers needed to quick check my son’s work. Tests and answers are also included.
Overall, we are enjoying this program. My son enjoys reading so he doesn’t mind having several chapters on history to read each week. As I mentioned above, the only thing I would change is having a schedule that included both sets of books in it to easily determine what is supposed to be done each day. We are happy with it and will definitely continue using this when we officially start his seventh grade year this fall.
For more information, please visit the Memoria Press Website. You can find The Story of the Thirteen Colonies & the Great Republic Set for $48.00 and 200 Questions About American History set for $27.90.

The picture above is my sweet mom. She took the kids to Build a Bear to take advantage of their buy one get one for $10 sale (ends Wednesday). It’s been at least 4-5 years since we went to Build a Bear!
This must be the week of birthday parties – we have 2 to go to this week and both at dinnertime. That makes meal planning super easy! This week we are still also working on our homeschool year. I hope to give it another 2-3 weeks and we will be done. With my husband’s health issues and other things throughout this year, we definitely took too many breaks.
Monday: Meal from friends
Tuesday: Birthday party
Wednesday: Trim Mac Salad
Thursday: Birthday party
Friday: Grilled chicken, Veggies
Saturday: Burgers, broccoli
Sunday: Egg casserole
