Bo Bedingfield: Frontman for the Wydelles and long-time local utility player, Bo Bedingfield has been a tall and quiet fixture in the Athens music scene since the early 2000’s. With a dislike of touring and general discomfort with attention, Bo is delighted to work a day job and make beautiful albums in relative secret. Although he once said that his ideal album release would be to hurl a vinyl record into the forest, his latest release, Six Normal Songs, is curiously available on all major streaming services and for HD download at thewydelles.bandcamp.com.

Dodd Ferrelle & Adam Poulin: Dodd Ferrelle and Adam Poulin are both longtime members of the Athens, Ga. Music Scene and together they make up 2/5ths of Dodd Ferrelle and the WinterVillains. Singer Songwriter Ferrelle and Fiddle Player Poulin, along with their band, are currently working on the WinterVillains debut release with grammy nominated producer John Keane at the helm. The album will be Ferrelle’s 10th release, but the first one with this current lineup. It will feature the distinct Sonic Americana instrumentation the band has forged underneath Ferrelle’s heartfelt lyrics and vocals. The tentatively titled “:Summer Hearts” will be completed this year with a target release date of December 1st, 2020. Ferrelle and Poulin will perform acoustic versions of tracks from the album during this online Marigold Festival celebration that Ferrelle hope will be a small pivot point for the community.
Another week has gone by. We are still doing well and chugging right along on our school. I’m really enjoying the slowness of this season and having more time at home with the kids. Hope you all have a great week! Here’s what we are making-

We’ve been doing more grilling since we’ve been staying home. My husband wanted to switch our tanks out without having to wait at the store. We just found a way to get our propane tanks switched out for our grill without even going to the store! Propane Taxi brings it right to your house and takes your old tanks and you can purchase it through Home Depot. We just placed an order to have ours swapped out. I’ll update when they arrive on how this went, but they have good reviews!
The kids and I have been doing various Bible studies as part of our homeschool throughout the years. This study by Not Consumed has been one of our favoirtes – My Brothers Keeper – Learning to Love Your Siblings God’s Way. They’ve recently updated it so I’m eager to check out the changes.
As a mom, I was very encouraged watching my children pray for and with each other during the study.
Just wanted to share a little about what we have studied.

When we first started Reading Unlocked, honestly I didn’t love the program. I found many of the words didn’t match up to what we typically call items here in the United States. My preschooler particularly struggled with the concept of a hat being called a cap. He also struggled with a water faucet being referred to as a tap.
There were also times that I even had a particularly hard time understanding what word the program was trying to get us to use. One that we struggled with was “ran” and “rang”. The accent of the computer was hard to differentiate for us.
Once we got used to the accent and the way things were done, we both started enjoying the program. It’s suggested to use the program several times during the week for about 10-15 minutes each session. My son asks to do Reading Unlocked daily, but we typically do it about once or twice a week. I felt that it was a little more advanced for him at the beginning, so we are taking it slower than most. Taking it slower has helped build his confidence and get frustrated less. We are spending the other days practicing the letters and words we learned.
I’m super pleased and surprised at how quickly he is picking up on the words at a young age! Thanks to Reading Unlocked, he has been recognizing the word “cat” and others when we read books together. He also is starting to try to write more words or asking me how to spell things. The other day, he made his deputy dad chuckle when he was able to read and write the word “cop”!
My son’s favorite part was the “Say it with me” section. A letter would flash on the screen and the child was to make the sound of that letter. He loved being surprised with what letter would come up next. Overall, we are thankful we had a chance to review this program and we plan to continue working on it at our slower pace over the next year.

I just saw this on the Sam’s Club facebook page. Starting this Sunday, April 19th, Sam’s Club will launch their “Hero Hours”, where they are offering first responders and healthcare workers the chance to shop from 8-10am. This will take place every Sunday in the near future. One important thing to note, is that a membership is not required, according to many of their facebook replies to comments!

Happy Monday! Today is day 31 in social isolation for our family. We are doing well for the most part. Easter was very quiet and definitely didn’t feel normal for us. My husband was working but he was able to stop by for an Easter lunch. Overall, a good day and a good weekend. The week ahead of course brings more of the same! Hope you all have a great week.
