Review: Accountable2You
About the Product:
Accountable2You is is an accountability software that you can use on multiple devices with a membership. Basically it tracks the activity and will alert you when something fishy is triggered, whether in an internet search or even in a text message. The program can be set up to have someone be the accountability partner and receive an instant text or email when there is questionable activity. This program cannot be disabled unless you know the password and will instantly trigger an alert as well if it’s attempted.
It’s important to note that this is just an accountability program and NOT a web filter. The website recommends other programs for filtering.
More than just accountability on devices, it can also be set up to alert if someone is on a device after a certain time. This is perfect for kids that may try and sneak their device after it’s supposed to be put up for the night.
With the program, there are 4 plans to select from:
Individual Plan: The individual plan is made for one person. This is perfect for singles and can monitor up to 6 devices.
Family Plan: The family plan can monitor up to 20 devices! This even works for your kids that are away at College.
Group Plan: In the group plan, each user in the plan can have up to 6 devices. This is perfect for church groups or other groups that want to make sure they are accountable to someone. Member accounts have all the features of an Individual account, including reporting, accountability partners, and alerts.
Small Business Plan: The Small Business Plan is designed for businesses wanting to monitor activity on devices used within their organization. The administrator of the plan can set up unlimited devices, such as employee computers or tablets, and see all activity for all devices installed under their account.
My Thoughts:
This has actually been quite an interesting review! Since using Accountable2You, it’s opened up great discussions with our kids on what is appropriate internet usage and such. Thankfully we haven’t had any major alerts, but I’m so glad that we have this added for extra accountability. We did have a couple yellow alerts. My daughter was searching “cute shirts for girls” on Amazon and since it had the word cute and girls in the same search, it alerted me. Even though it was an innocent search, it was good to know that the program was working and that it yellow flagged a questionable search so that I knew to go review that item. We also had it triggered with some books that my kids were looking at. It will tell you the exact time and device that triggered the alert.
I found the program really easy to install on every device except on the iPad and iPhone. Android was super easy. With Apple devices, you have to disable safari and use the Accountable2You app to access the internet in order for it to track. With Android, I just had to install the app and set it up. It tracks texts on Android but not on Apple. It took a few extra steps, but wasn’t too difficult.
My favorite part of the program is that it will still track if you go in the “incognito” mode if you don’t want your internet history followed. That is a very important feature to have with kids.
I’m thankful that we have installed this on our devices and will definitely renew when it is time.

Meal Plan Monday
What a wonderful weekend! We had big plans to get away to the mountains, but ended up opting for a lazy weekend at home. It was very much needed! Honestly we didn’t do much of anything this weekend, but we did play a lot of chess with the kids, carve pumpkins, and spend time together. Sometimes we just need that down time of not running around everywhere!
Today I’m not quite sure what we are going to do. It’s $1.31 ice cream day at Baskin Robbins. We might go to that. There are also several local fun activities that I’ve been debating.
Here’s my meal plan for this week:
Monday: Grilled Chicken Salad
Tuesday: Poppyseed Chicken, salad
Wednesday: Creamy Bacon Mushroom Thyme Chicken
Thursday: Dinner out
Friday: 15 Bean Soup, cornbread
Saturday: Taco Pie
Sunday: Brinner! Eggs, Biscuits, Bacon Cinnamon Rolls

Review & Giveaway: Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family
About the Book:
Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family – In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything “right” and raise up “good” children, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.
In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents. Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God—grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents. Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children’s hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.
My Thoughts:
I have been reading through Paul David Tripp’s new book, Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family over the past few weeks and I’m blown away and feeling rather broken by my parenting style.
This book really helps you find the flaws in parenting and has shown me that I definitely need to parent with more grace and less law.
I really appreciate how Paul David Tripp encourages parents to get to the base of the issues by changing themselves, not expecting our children to change. Our children are sinners and what they do doesn’t have to be a reflection on us as parents, but more of the sin and brokenness in the world.
As parents, we need to be pointing our children to Christ in every opportunity that presents itself. Boy do I have a lot of work to do!
I definitely recommend reading this book to all parents and I will be keeping it on my shelf for future reference. Definitely is making me think!

Meal Plan Monday
It was a great weekend! We celebrated my son’s 10th birthday, but more important than that, we got great news from his doctor! 6 years ago, he was diagnosed with a soy allergy and was super sick. We had his blood tested again this past week and found out that he has outgrown his allergy! What great news! His first food was Red Lobster biscuits because he has always wanted to try them! Mama can’t make them quite like RL. He loved it! He also tried his very first Twix bar. He’s really enjoying being able to eat what everyone else is eating without fear of getting sick. We are thrilled with this news! The photo above is his face after I told him the great news!
This week, we are going to go to a few fall festivals and activities and hopefully end the week in the mountains again.
Here’s what we are making this week:
Monday: Chicken alfredo
Tuesday: Steak, zucchini, salad
Wednesday: Southwest Chicken in the Crockpot
Thursday: Meatball Parmesan Casserole, salad
Friday: burgers, broccoli
Saturday: Omelettes or leftovers
Sunday: BBQ Sandwiches, beans, chips

How to Make Creepy Crawly Bug Soap
This is a sponsored post, written for Dixie Crystals.
I’ve actually never made soap before! It just seemed too complex. I had no idea how simple it is to make AND how you can make it fun by adding surprises inside!
These Creepy Crawly Bug Soaps were easy to make and simple enough that the kids could help out. We followed the Creepy Crawly Bug Soap recipe found over at Dixie Crystals’ Kids in the Kitchen website.
Supplies:
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Dixie Crystals Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 2 teaspoons of your favorite essential oil (we used orange)
- 16 ounces clear glycerin Melt and Pour Soap
Directions:
- Cut melt-and-pour soap into cubes and place in a double boiler.
- Cover with lid.
- When soap is melted, remove from heat and mix in granulated sugar and vitamin E oil.
- Put mixture in a glass measuring cup and stir in the essential oil.
- Pour into soap molds until about half way full.
- Add your favorite plastic bugs. (We found ours in the Halloween section at Target.) Remember that your mold is upside down, so put bugs in so they are facing the top of the soap when complete.
- Top off the mold with more of the soap mixture and let set for about 4 hours.
- Pop out of the mold and then gift or enjoy with your kids!
Tips:
If you haven’t made soap before, know that it solidifies pretty quickly. I started off by taking my time, but found out that I needed to speed things up!
We had a blast making Creepy Crawly Bug Soap! So much that I think we will do it again for other holidays. My kids are already eager to wash their hands so that they can score the spider inside the bug soap.
For more fun ideas to do with your kids during the holidays, be sure to visit Dixie Crystals’ Kids in the Kitchen website. There are recipes and crafts both available to check out.
